Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Antonov moved to Paris before embarking on his video game career in the mid-1990s at Xatrix Entertainment (later Gray Matter Studios). He rose to prominence as a key creative force behind Half-Life 2 at Valve, masterfully designing the memorable City 17.
