Far Cry 4 Hits 60fps on PlayStation 5

Author:Kristen Update:Oct 25,2025

More than a decade after its initial release, Far Cry 4 now operates at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5.

As first noticed by gael_74 and shared on the game's subreddit, the latest patch notes confirm that Version 1.08 officially "adds 60 FPS support for the PS5 console."

If you haven't experienced it yet, this is the perfect opportunity to dive into Far Cry 4. The game boasts one of the franchise's most memorable villains, Pagan Min, and immerses players in a vibrant, expansive open world. The Himalayan setting isn't merely a scenic vista—it's a dynamic environment designed for combat, hunting, and exploration.

In IGN's "great" 8.5/10 review, we highlighted that while "Far Cry 4's characters may lack depth, its campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer deliver incredible freedom and fun."

Far Cry 4 joins a growing list of PS4-era Ubisoft titles that have received similar frame rate upgrades in recent years, such as Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Naturally, this has sparked excitement within the community, with many fans hoping beloved entries like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3 will receive the same 60 fps enhancement soon.

However, the timing wasn't ideal for everyone. "You've got to be kidding me. I literally just earned the platinum trophy three days ago," lamented one unfortunate player.

Last month, Ubisoft established a new subsidiary focused on its flagship franchises—Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six—backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Chinese tech giant Tencent.

This development follows Ubisoft's announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows has already attracted over 3 million players. The company has faced a series of high-profile setbacks, staff reductions, studio shutdowns, and project cancellations leading up to the game's launch, placing significant pressure on its success after Ubisoft's stock fell to a record low.

Earlier today, Ubisoft also discreetly introduced Steam Achievements for the 12-year-old title Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
