Obsidian's CEO expressed confidence in the team, many of whom worked on the original Outer Worlds. While acknowledging the difficulties faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and post-Microsoft acquisition, Urquhart emphasized that the studio persevered, successfully launching Grounded and Pentiment, and making significant strides on Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2. Initially, there were discussions about halting The Outer Worlds 2 development to focus resources on Avowed, but the studio ultimately decided against it.

Urquhart admitted that the studio's development schedule was impacted, stating, "We were kind of a crappy developer for about a year, year and a half." However, he confirmed that both Grounded and Pentiment exceeded expectations, and Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 are looking exceptionally good. While specific details remain scarce, the delay of Avowed to 2025 suggests potential adjustments to the release timelines for other projects.

Although the sequel was announced in 2021 with limited updates since, Urquhart acknowledged the possibility of a launch delay. Despite this, he reassured fans of the studio's commitment to delivering high-quality games, stating, "We will get there with all these games...But we’re going to get there, and I think that’s been proven now." Both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed are slated for release on PC and Xbox Series S/X.
