Relaunch Strategy Revealed

MindsEye Development Team Announces Relaunch Plans

Build A Rocket Boy (BARB) CEO Leslie Benzies, formerly President of Rockstar North, has outlined plans to revive MindsEye following its turbulent release. As reported by IGN on July 4, Benzies addressed staff concerns during a July 2 video conference.

The development team intends to overhaul and re-release MindsEye after its problematic debut. Developers have pledged to work tirelessly to resolve the performance problems and technical issues plaguing players since launch.

BARB recently deployed Update #3 as part of ongoing stabilization efforts. A June 30 Twitter announcement confirmed the update's console release, with PC availability coming later: "After analyzing hundreds of gameplay hours and player feedback, we've prioritized critical fixes to enhance the console experience."

Beyond immediate fixes, BARB remains committed to delivering promised content including new missions, collaborations, multiplayer features, and additional roadmap items scheduled for upcoming months. However, these ambitious plans face skepticism given the game's launch difficulties.

MindsEye Player Count and Critical Reception Data

Despite multiple post-launch updates, player engagement remains alarmingly low. Current SteamDB metrics show only 19 active players, with Steam reviews averaging "Mostly Negative" and Metacritic scoring the title at 38.

Our Game8 review awarded MindsEye a 46/100 due to its unoptimized state, technical shortcomings, and unfinished gameplay systems. While publisher IO Interactive promised innovation, the rushed release resulted in fundamental performance and design flaws requiring substantial refinement.
