On February 7, 2025, inZOI's game director Hyungjun Kim shared exciting news on Discord about a Karma system that will transform deceased Zois into ghosts based on their Karma points.

Despite inZOI's commitment to realism, Kim introduces a fascinating paranormal twist with the Karma system. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife, but those who don’t make the cut have to remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points." The exact methods to restore these points are yet to be disclosed.

Kim also highlighted that the playability of ghosts will be intentionally limited to maintain the focus on the main gameplay, yet engaging enough to make the experience memorable. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois are restricted to special conversations "at set times under certain conditions."

"While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future," Kim added. "Occasionally stepping away from the game's native, ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of this vast and complex concept we call life!"

In August 2024, inZOI's publisher Krafton Inc. collaborated with content creators to showcase the game through sponsored videos. One such partner, MadMorph, provided a sneak peek into inZOI’s Karma system.

At the fifteen-minute mark of MadMorph’s video, he demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions, which displays a range of actions that can either boost or deplete Karma points. A humorous example included his character secretly farting on another Zoi's face, eliciting a reaction. Positive actions like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post" were also listed, though not performed in the video.

While the Early Access version of inZOI focuses on gameplay "while the Zois are still alive," the Karma Interactions feature promises to have a more significant impact in future updates. Fans eager to dive into this unique experience won't have to wait long, as inZOI is set to launch in Early Access on Steam on March 28, 2025, just under 6 weeks away.
