Author:Kristen Update:Mar 16,2025

In the thrilling world of *Phasmophobia*, tracking down elusive ghosts often requires employing items as risky as the spirits themselves. The Voodoo Doll is one such item, a cursed possession capable of both aiding and hindering your investigation. This guide details how to obtain and effectively utilize this potent, yet perilous, tool.

The Voodoo Doll offers a potentially high-reward, high-risk approach to ghost hunting. While game updates have adjusted its mechanics, it remains a valuable asset. Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. This is achieved by sequentially inserting pins into the doll. This is particularly useful when dealing with a less active or elusive spirit, forcing it to manifest evidence like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprints.

Ten pins await insertion, each triggering ghostly activity. However, proceed with caution. Each pin reduces your sanity by 5%, meaning a full insertion depletes 50%, significantly increasing your vulnerability to ghost hunts.

The most significant risk lies in the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; if you strike the heart, your sanity plummets by 10%, instantly triggering a prolonged (20 seconds longer than normal) and intensely dangerous cursed hunt. The ghost will spawn near you, making swift escape crucial.

Despite the inherent danger, the Voodoo Doll's ability to expedite evidence gathering can be invaluable for well-prepared teams.

What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, often called "Cursed Objects," are unique items randomly spawning across *Phasmophobia* maps. Their appearance depends on difficulty and game mode (Challenge Mode, for instance). Unlike standard equipment designed for safe evidence gathering, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost, but at a considerable risk to your character's sanity.

The risk-reward ratio varies between objects, making strategic selection essential. Using them is entirely optional; no penalties exist for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession appears per contract (unless customized).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
