Lies of P DLC Patch Eases Difficulty, Rebalances Enemies

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 20,2026

Lies of P's latest update has been rolled out, reducing the challenge of monsters in New Game Plus cycles and tweaking the stats of certain field enemies encountered during a first playthrough of the Overture DLC.

Director Jiwon Choi had previously stated that the team believed Soulslike titles such as Lies of P should not feature difficulty settings, and the game launched accordingly. However, the studio has since reconsidered, explaining: “We aimed to ensure a broader range of players could enjoy the game."

This shift follows significant player feedback regarding the DLC's "intended" difficulty mode, Legendary Stalker. The volume of discussion—both supporting and criticizing the DLC's increased challenge—led the Lies of P subreddit to consolidate all related posts into a single megathread to manage the conversation. This prompted developer Neowiz to acknowledge that certain aspects "did not turn out quite as intended."

Alongside fixing various bugs—such as a progression halt after giving a bottle of beer to the Old Fisherman and visual glitches with specific equipment—Neowiz has implemented "combat balance adjustments" in patch 1.9.0.0, released earlier today, June 20. Additionally, players can now access the DLC starting from Chapter 5 in subsequent playthroughs, rather than waiting until Chapter 9.

Neowiz surprise-released the Overture DLC during Summer Game Fest, introducing new areas, enemies, bosses, characters, weapons, and the contentious addition of two easier difficulty options.

We enjoyed Lies of P, awarding it a score of 8/10, and Overture also earned an 8/10. In our review, we noted: "Even if it’s clearly playing a familiar tune, Lies of P: Overture is an excellent expansion that adds substantial content to an already outstanding game."
