CDPR acknowledged weak gameplay in The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its shortcomings. Many fans felt the combat system needed significant improvement.

In a recent interview, Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged this, highlighting gameplay and monster hunting as areas requiring substantial upgrades. He stated directly: "We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience."

Kalemba emphasized that the Witcher 4 trailer should showcase the intensity and impact of monster battles, focusing on improved choreography and emotional weight.

A significant combat overhaul is anticipated for The Witcher 4. Reassuringly, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) recognizes the need for improvements over previous Witcher titles, improvements likely to carry over into future installments, especially given Ciri's role as the protagonist of the new trilogy.

Interestingly, developers also plan to incorporate Triss's wedding into the game. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest, originally slated for Novigrad, saw Geralt aiding Triss's preparations by ridding the canals of monsters, procuring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift. This storyline reflects Triss's feelings for Castello and her desire for a swift marriage.
