Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual installment of the event, and the first Xbox game showcase of the new year. The event, which follows the successful 2023 and 2024 editions, will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating online, suggesting a January reveal.

Confirmed Games for Xbox Developer Direct 2025:

The showcase will feature at least three highly anticipated titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), aiming for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest entry in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, with a rumored mid-2025 release.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is still pending.

More Than Just Three Games?

Previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes, showcasing multiple games. Given this precedent, and the success of past showcases including titles like Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, it's likely the 2025 event will hold further surprises beyond the three confirmed titles.
