The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings new life to Bethesda's iconic game with updated visuals, enhanced gameplay mechanics, and more. Despite these upgrades, the team at Virtuos made a point to retain one of the original game's most memorable quirks.
Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series are well-acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's speech skills were humorously underwhelming. One of her voice lines, featuring actress Linda Kenyon seemingly re-recording a line, became an instant classic due to what was believed to be an accidental inclusion of her practice take.

As players embarked on their journey through the refreshed world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how true the remaster stayed to the original. While countless environments, character models, and items have been revamped, fans were delighted to discover that many of the original game's charming imperfections, like Tandilwe's blooper, have been preserved. This beloved moment remains unchanged, complete with its original lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon, upon learning about her blooper's internet fame, humorously defended herself, saying, "It wasn't my fault!"
While many of the thousands of players diving into Oblivion Remastered are debating whether the Bethesda re-release is more of a remake than a remaster, others are simply pleased to see so much of its original jank remain largely untouched. This aspect of the original release was something Bethesda and Virtuos were determined to maintain, and so far, it appears to be resonating well with both new and returning players.
