Meta Discontinues Sales of Quest Pro VR Headsets

Meta Quest Pro Officially Discontinued; Meta Quest 3 Takes the Helm

Meta has officially discontinued the Meta Quest Pro VR headset, as announced on its website. The announcement follows earlier predictions that supplies would dwindle by early 2025. While the Meta Quest line has enjoyed considerable success, the Pro model's high price tag ($1499.99) hindered widespread adoption, both among consumers and businesses.

The remaining Meta Quest Pro units are now sold out. Meta's online store directs potential buyers to the Meta Quest 3, touted as the "ultimate mixed reality experience." While a few stray units might still exist in retail stores, finding one is increasingly unlikely.

The Meta Quest 3: A Superior Alternative

The Meta Quest 3 offers a compelling alternative, boasting many of the Quest Pro's features at a significantly lower price ($499). Like its predecessor, it emphasizes mixed reality, enabling users to overlay virtual elements onto the real world.

Technically, the Quest 3 surpasses the Quest Pro in several key areas. It's lighter, boasts higher resolution and refresh rate, promising a more comfortable and immersive experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers are compatible with the Quest 3. For budget-conscious users, the Meta Quest 2S, starting at $299.99, provides a more affordable entry point with slightly reduced specifications.
