Season 2 of Marvel Rivals will introduce an experimental feature designed to enhance game stability and optimize memory usage. Discover how this feature works and get details on upcoming events and game updates.

NetEase is set to launch a new experimental feature to boost Marvel Rivals’ stability and lower its memory consumption. In a Twitter (X) post on April 30, Marvel Rivals announced the upcoming Switch Shader Compilation Mode, designed to deliver a smoother gaming experience, particularly for players with limited RAM or FPS concerns.
Along with the announcement, Marvel Rivals published a blog post outlining the expected benefits of this experimental feature. The blog acknowledges player feedback regarding performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory usage during gameplay.

According to the blog, “To tackle memory overload, we're rolling out an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. Following the Season 2 update, players can enable this option via the PC launcher.” The feature is especially recommended for users with 16GB of RAM or less.
Once activated, the feature will deliver the following improvements:
● Shader compilation will only occur upon first launching the game after a new version or graphics driver update.
● Game memory usage will be significantly reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen screens, and crashes caused by insufficient memory.
Developers have also noted known issues when using this feature. For example, some materials may appear distorted for a few frames at the start of a match but will normalize quickly. Occasional stutters might occur but will resolve and not affect the rest of the match.
Marvel Rivals kicks off Season 2 with a Twitch Drops campaign running from April 11 at 12:00 UTC to April 30 at 23:59 UTC. To earn rewards, players must link their Marvel Rivals and Twitch accounts and watch eligible Marvel Rivals streams with Drops enabled.
Rewards are based on total watch time and include the following:

Marvel Rivals’ recent Dev Vision offered a preview of Season 2’s Hellfire Gala and revealed plans to shorten seasons by introducing one new hero each month.
In just a few hours, Marvel Rivals will enter maintenance in preparation for Season 2. The maintenance period starts on April 11 at 9:00 UTC and is expected to last 2 to 3 hours.

This update introduces Emma Frost as a new playable hero, along with her X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire skins. It also adds a new Domination map—Hellfire Gala: Krakoa—and a fresh battle pass with 10 all-new heroic costume sets.
Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay informed with the latest Marvel Rivals news by checking out the article below!
