LEGO Enters the Gaming World with In-House Projects

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has unveiled ambitious plans for the company's future, signaling a significant expansion into the digital realm through the development of video games. This expansion will involve both in-house development and strategic partnerships.

“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing,” stated Christiansen.

This strategic shift doesn't preclude LEGO from continuing its established practice of licensing its brand to third-party developers. Recent reports indicate TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed game franchises, is currently working on a new title, likely linked to a Warner Bros. property.

LEGO's most prominent foray into gaming to date is its ongoing collaboration with Epic Games. Last year's Fortnite LEGO-themed mode proved immensely popular, showcasing the brand's appeal within established gaming communities.

The company also enjoys a long-standing relationship with TT Games, resulting in a successful series of adventure games spanning two decades. While new projects from TT Games remain relatively under wraps, speculation points towards a new LEGO Harry Potter game, potentially fueled by the considerable success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further demonstrating LEGO's commitment to the gaming industry and its adaptability, the company partnered with 2K Games to release LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game launched last year, which broadened the brand's reach within different gaming genres.
