Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its selection of characters, known as Breakers. Each Breaker possesses unique playstyles, impacting your approach to defeating the Abyss King. Unlocking new Breakers is relatively straightforward, though the game doesn't explicitly detail the process. This guide covers all currently available Breakers and their acquisition. Note: This guide reflects the early access version; further updates will follow as more characters are released.

How to Unlock New Characters

Unlocking new Breakers requires Abyss Stones, obtained exclusively by defeating Crowns (bosses). To access Crowns, you'll need Prisms, which act as keys to boss arenas. Locate Prisms on the map by following the golden diamond icon. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock. Use your accumulated Abyss Stones to acquire the chosen character. While nine characters exist, only two are currently unlockable via this Abyss Stone method. The unlock method for future characters remains unconfirmed.

All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, a key item defining base stats and core perks, shaping their playstyle.

Vermillion

Vermillion begins with the Gunslinger SyCom, favoring ranged combat. Critical Rail shots guarantee a subsequent critical hit. Alternatively, unlock the Tank SyCom for melee combat, rewarding perfect parries with increased armor and boasting superior defensive and melee stats.

Lapis

Lapis initially uses the Lightweaver SyCom, enhancing Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom boosts core stats with each upgrade, making her potentially the strongest Breaker with sufficient upgrades.

Goro

Goro is a ranged character. His default Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging while shooting, while the unlockable Sniper SyCom increases critical hit rate. Goro is a high-risk, high-reward Breaker, dealing significant damage but lacking defensive capabilities.
