⚫︎ In a developer update last November, the Q&A section for Dune: Awakening provided new insights into gameplay mechanics. Shields, powered by Holtzman technology, offer protection against fast projectiles but are susceptible to slow melee attacks, poison, and fire, and their vibrations can attract sandworms. Crafting these shields requires rare components found at specific locations like Imperial Testing Stations. Although the game is primarily in third-person perspective, certain tools like binoculars and scopes provide a first-person view.

Vehicles, which players can craft or discover, come with customizable access permissions and can be securely stored using a vehicle backup tool. While sandworm riding won't be available at launch, the developers are committed to introducing this feature meaningfully in future updates. Players will advance by earning experience through exploration and completing contracts, unlocking new abilities, crafting recipes, and skills such as those taught by Wandering Masters, including Bene Gesserit techniques.
