Dead by Daylight Unveils Authentic Five Nights at Freddy's Gameplay in New Chapter

Behaviour Interactive has unveiled an exciting new addition to Dead by Daylight with the introduction of Springtrap, the iconic Killer from the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe. Set to launch on June 17, 2025, this crossover promises to immerse fans in a thrilling experience that feels right at home in the world of Dead by Daylight. In a detailed reveal to IGN, Behaviour shared insights into Springtrap’s unique abilities and the new gameplay mechanics he brings to the table, ahead of the Chapter’s public test build (PTB) launching today.

Dubbed as one of the most significant Chapters in Dead by Daylight’s history, the excitement is primarily fueled by Springtrap, known in the game as The Animatronic. This axe-wielding yellow rabbit has a rich backstory in Five Nights at Freddy’s lore, and Behaviour has taken creative liberties to enhance his presence in Dead by Daylight. Springtrap’s primary weapon is a giant pizza knife, while his Power, a fire axe, serves as a versatile tool that can reveal Survivors and set up terrifying jump scares reminiscent of the Five Nights at Freddy’s experience.

Enhancing the immersive experience, Matthew Lillard, known for his role in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional cosmetic options include the Legendary Glitchtrap outfit, the Very Rare Clown Springtrap, and Toxic Springtrap outfits, along with Freddy Fazbear’s t-shirts for Survivors.

While Springtrap is the star of the show, the new Chapter introduces much more. Players will navigate the eerie halls of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, a meticulously recreated map with unique twists from The Entity. Key areas include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, where fans can encounter familiar faces like Bonnie and Chica. This new map not only offers a haunting environment but also comes packed with Easter Eggs and jump scares that will keep players on their toes.

Even outside the Pizzeria, players can experience authentic Five Nights at Freddy’s gameplay elements like security doors, cameras, and a special office on any map when pursued by Springtrap.
