Acquire Friendship with the Dwarf in Stardew Valley

This guide helps you befriend the mysterious Dwarf in Stardew Valley. Unlike other villagers, befriending the Dwarf requires learning Dwarvish and giving specific gifts.

The Dwarf, residing in the mines, is only accessible after breaking a boulder near the entrance with a copper pickaxe or bomb.

Learning Dwarvish:

To communicate, you must donate all four Dwarf Scrolls to the museum. Gunther will then reward you with a Dwarvish translation guide.

Gifting:

The Dwarf accepts gifts, but only certain ones increase friendship. Gifts given on his birthday (Summer 22) provide eight times the usual friendship points.

Loved Gifts (+80 friendship points):

• Gemstones: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Jade, Ruby, Topaz, Emerald
• Lemon Stone
• Omni Geode
• Lava Eel
• All universally loved gifts

Liked Gifts (+45 friendship points):

• All universally liked gifts
• All artifacts
• Cave Carrot
• Quartz

Disliked & Hated Gifts (negative friendship points): Avoid these!

• Mushrooms and other foraged items
• All universally hated gifts (except artifacts)

Movie Theater:

Once unlocked, you can invite the Dwarf to the movie theater. He loves all movie selections but has preferences for concessions:

• Loves: Stardrop Sorbet, Rock Candy
• Likes: Cotton Candy, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jawbreaker, Salmon Burger, Sour Slimes, Star Cookie
