WoW: Midnight Unveils Flexible Housing Options

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 29,2025

Blizzard has unveiled exciting new details about the upcoming in-game housing system set to launch with World of Warcraft: Midnight. Although the expansion is slated for release after The War Within as part of the Worldsoul saga, early previews indicate a customization level that exceeds many players' expectations.

A recent developer blog showcased in-game videos demonstrating the intricacies of furniture placement. The system employs a grid for item alignment with automatic snapping, making it easier for players to arrange their space. Additionally, players can adorn larger objects such as shelves or tables with smaller accessories, which remain attached even when moved around.

The housing system features two distinct modes: a Basic Mode designed for straightforward organization, and an Advanced Mode catered to creative builders. In Advanced Mode, players have the freedom to rotate objects on all three axes and stack them in innovative ways, allowing for the creation of complex and visually appealing interiors.

A standout feature is the ability to scale objects, catering to the varying sizes of different characters. For example, gnomes can design more intimate and cozy spaces, while larger races like tauren can create more expansive layouts. Some furniture pieces, specifically designed for this housing system, will also support recoloring, although legacy assets might not include this option.

With Midnight still months away, Blizzard is strategically releasing teasers and updates to keep the player base engaged and enthusiastic about the future developments in World of Warcraft.
