Top Spring 2025 Anime Recommendations

Among the many exciting releases this spring, I've highlighted ***The Apothecary Diaries, Once Upon A Witch’s Death, The Beginning After The End, To Be Hero X***, and ***WITCH WATCH*** as standout series on Crunchyroll. However, there are several other gems in the lineup that deserve your attention.

***Devil May Cry*** is Netflix's latest foray into animated video game adaptations, and with a trailer featuring Limp Bizkit and a new Evanescence track, it's clear the creators are aiming for a specific, edgy tone. While Netflix has had mixed results with anime and game IPs, the involvement of Adi Shankar, who has worked on *Castlevania* and other notable projects, along with Studio Mir, known for *Avatar: The Last Airbender* and *Korra*, suggests this could be a hit. Even if you're new to the *Devil May Cry* universe, fans of action-packed anime like *Trigun* will likely enjoy Dante's adventures.

In ***Moonrise***, the moon is on a quest for independence, a concept that might remind you of the 2021 film *Moonfall*. This original net animation (ONA) boasts an impressive team, including animation by WIT Studio, character designs by Hiromu Arakawa, and direction by Masashi Koizuka. Despite limited details about the story, the talent involved hints at something extraordinary.

Lastly, ***YAIBA: Samurai Legends*** might be new to those outside Japan or younger audiences, but it's a beloved series by Gosho Aoyama, the creator of *Case Closed*. Following the adventures of Yaiba Kurogane against a demon army, this series combines humor and action in a style reminiscent of *Detective Conan* and early *Dragon Ball*. With WIT Studio at the helm and Aoyama's direct involvement, this is a must-watch for fans of samurai comedy and action.
