South Park Delays New Episode Amid Controversy

Author:Kristen Update:Oct 15,2025

South Park is taking a break this week as Season 27 continues its biweekly rollout of satirical takedowns targeting the Trump administration.

Unlike previous seasons with weekly episodes, viewers must wait another week as the show adjusts its new release cadence. Comedy Central is marking the long-running series' anniversary today, August 13, with South Park Day celebrations (via THR).

The network will air beloved episodes like "Casa Bonita," "Fishsticks," and "Make Love, Not Warcraft," alongside exclusive interviews with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and behind-the-scenes content.

The unnamed third episode of Season 27 arrives next week. Fans remain eager after the season premiere, "Sermon on the Mount," which delivered sharp critiques of Donald Trump's policies and persona. The July 23 debut also featured Eric Cartman and others mocking Paramount amid controversy over its Skydance merger and cancelation of Stephen Colbert's late-night show.

Season 27's second episode, "Got A Nut," aired after an unexpected one-week delay, continuing the administration critiques while shifting focus to VP JD Vance and Homeland Security's Kristi Noem (the latter receiving an animal-unfriendly extended ending).

This particularly biting season makes the biweekly waits especially agonizing for fans. Though planned as a 10-episode run, it's unclear if the extended schedule will continue.

Despite longer gaps between episodes, Season 27 ranks among the show's most successful since its 1997 debut. "Sermon on the Mount" drew 6 million viewers across Paramount platforms, while "Got A Nut" saw live viewership jump 25%.

Details remain under wraps for Episode 3. In the meantime, revisit Parker and Stone's Comic-Con commentary on the premiere or explore their recent $1.5 billion Paramount deal promising 50 new South Park episodes over five years.
