"Skull and Bones Adds Land Combat This Fall: Ubisoft Reveals Year 2 Plans"

Ubisoft is setting sail to make Skull and Bones Year 2 the most expansive yet for this pirate multiplayer game, introducing significant content such as new modes, ships, a Kraken, and the much-anticipated feature of land combat.

During a special Year 2 showcase that aired yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled its roadmap for the upcoming year. The presentation was brimming with exciting updates, with Season 3: Guts and Glory being the highlight, as it will finally introduce the land combat feature that fans have been requesting since the game's launch last February.

PlaySet to debut this fall during Season 3, players will have the chance to engage in combat on land, including swordfights and gunfights. This feature is part of the Rogue Warlord additions, where players will venture onto beaches and into caves to rescue skilled crew members called Officers. A teaser video provided a glimpse of what to expect, but the full experience will be revealed later this year.

While land combat is the standout feature of Skull and Bones Year 2, the showcase revealed plenty more to keep players engaged throughout 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, launching today, April 15, introduces a loot-enhancing item ascension feature, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, slated for summer 2025, will feature Megaforts and the impressive Frigate large ships. Season 4: Eye of the Beast, set to launch this winter, will introduce the Kraken, Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.

While Ubisoft has kept official sales figures under wraps, they did mention achieving "record player engagement" shortly after release. Notably, the launch of Skull and Bones also saw a 200% increase in players of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
