Persona 4 Voice Actors Confirm Non-Involvement in Rumored Remake

Author:Kristen Update:Jul 30,2025

While no official confirmation exists for a Persona 4 remake, recent statements suggest at least three original voice actors will not return for any such project.

Earlier this week, Yuri Lowenthal, known for voicing Yosuke Hanamura, shared on BlueSky that he would not reprise his role in the unconfirmed Persona 4 remake.

"Sadly, I won’t be back as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake," Lowenthal stated in a now-deleted post. "I reached out, even pleaded, but they’re moving in a different direction."

Following this, two other actors from the original game confirmed their non-involvement. Erin Fitzgerald, the voice of Chie Satonaka, noted two days ago that she hadn’t been approached for the project. Yesterday, Amanda Winn Lee, who voiced Yukiko Amagi, also confirmed she would not return:

Many have asked, and no, I wasn’t invited to voice Yukiko in the P4 remake.

These statements have fueled speculation among Persona fans about an impending remake. Rumors have circulated for the past year, with a recent domain registration adding to the anticipation of an upcoming announcement.

Uncertainty surrounds why these cherished actors were not asked to return. One theory points to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA voice actor strike as a possible factor. Alternatively, developer Atlus may have opted for a full recast, as seen with Persona 3: Reload, where Lowenthal’s role was also reassigned.

Some fans propose a bold theory: this could be a deliberate marketing ploy. A Twitter/X user pointed out that the actors’ announcements align with the order in which their characters join the party in Persona 4—Yosuke, Chie, then Yukiko.

This feels like a marketing tactic.

First Yosuke
Then Chie
Now Yukiko

Some social media users speculate further, suggesting that if Troy Baker or Matt Mercer, both former voices of Kanji Tatsumi, announce their non-involvement next, it might confirm the actors’ participation in a clever ruse. Given Persona 4’s themes of truth and self-acceptance, some even theorize the original actors could voice the Shadow versions of their characters, making their statements technically accurate yet deceptive. However, most fans dismiss this as overly speculative, attributing the recasting to Atlus’ typical practices.

With growing buzz around a potential Persona 4 remake, fans hope for clarity soon, possibly at events like Summer Game Fest or the Xbox showcase next week.
