Overture DLC Not Linked to Lies of P's Final Cutscene Reveal

Author:Kristen Update:May 02,2025

Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for *Lies of P*, titled *Overture*, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. However, during last week's Game Developers Conference, IGN learned that one particular mystery—the base game’s surprising final cutscene—won’t be explained in the DLC. For those who have yet to experience the end of *Lies of P*, the cutscene hints at intriguing future directions for the game's universe, sparking widespread curiosity among fans about its potential impact and explanation in the DLC. Yet, *Lies of P* director Jiwon Choi has confirmed that this cutscene is not related to *Overture*. Choi tantalizingly added, “Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future.”

Neowiz has already announced a sequel to *Lies of P*, suggesting that the enigmatic cutscene might be setting the stage for *Lies of P 2*. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi refrained from dropping any sequel-related hints during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz’s commitment to quality, stating, “What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you.”

PlayThe scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the "Dorothy scene." As detailed here, the final cutscene features Paracelsus on a phone call, mentioning that he will “find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy.” The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz*, hinting that future *Lies of P* content might integrate other public domain fairy tales. Yet, the how and why remain unclear, and we now know it won’t be addressed in *Overture*.

SPOILERS END HERE.

PlayChoi did provide some insights into what fans can expect from *Overture*. He suggested that players revisit the base game to uncover hints that foreshadow the DLC’s content: “When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience,” Choi explained. “A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion.”

Choi also noted that some fans are already piecing together Neowiz’s clues, mentioning that he frequently reads online fan theories and finds some to be “quite close.” Additional details about *Overture* include an estimated playtime of 15-20 hours for experienced players. The DLC will be accessible after players reach a “certain” chapter of the game and can be played up to the end. As previously announced, *Overture* is a prequel, with the protagonist transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. It will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi was careful not to spoil these elements before the release.
