Monster Hunter Wilds Nears 1 Million Peak Concurrent Players on Steam — and It’s Only Going to Get Bigger From Here

Monster Hunter Rise's launch has been nothing short of phenomenal, boasting nearly 1 million concurrent players on Steam alone. This Capcom action-adventure title, released simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, swiftly ascended to become Steam's eighth most-played game ever, peaking at an astounding 987,482 concurrent users.

This impressive figure surpasses the all-time peak concurrent players of major titles like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and Baldur's Gate 3. It significantly outperforms its predecessor, Monster Hunter: World, which reached a peak of 334,684 concurrent players on Steam. It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Monster Hunter Rise is likely even higher, as Sony and Microsoft don't publicly release their player numbers.

The question now is: how high will the Steam concurrent player count climb as Monster Hunter Rise enters its first weekend and beyond? Surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 and reaching the 1 million mark seems highly probable. Could 2 million be within reach?

While Capcom hasn't yet revealed sales figures for Monster Hunter Rise, all indicators point to a tremendously successful launch. (Monster Hunter: World achieved over 25 million sales in six years, solidifying its place as Capcom's best-selling title.) However, the game currently holds a "Mixed" user review rating on Steam, with some players reporting performance issues.

IGN awarded Monster Hunter Rise an 8/10 in its review, stating: "Monster Hunter Rise continues to refine the series' rough edges, resulting in incredibly fun fights, albeit ones lacking substantial challenge."
