How Big Is the Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch File Size?

The day-one patch for Monster Hunter Wilds is now available, boasting a surprisingly large 18GB download size. While patch notes are currently absent, players are strongly encouraged to install this update for optimal performance.

The substantial file size is likely attributed to the inclusion of high-resolution textures, a feature notably absent from review copies. This addition significantly impacts storage space.

Given the patch's initial PlayStation 5 release, it's highly probable that PS5 Pro enhancements are integrated, further boosting console gameplay. Capcom has already confirmed PS5 Pro enhancement for the game's launch.

Bug fixes are also anticipated within this update. While considerable effort was dedicated to pre-release optimization, resolving remaining bugs is a standard practice for a day-one patch.

Despite its "day-one" designation, pre-order users may access the patch prior to the official release date. Players with slower internet connections should prioritize downloading the patch before February 28th for a smoother initial gameplay experience.

It's important to note that this 1.000.020 version is primarily focused on performance and bug fixes, not new content. Any significant additions will arrive via post-launch DLC. Three paid DLC packs are planned, supplemented by two free content updates: the first featuring Mizutsune and event quests in spring, and a second summer update including new monsters and missions.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches on PC and consoles February 28th.
