Mastering Demon's Hand: A Guide to Playing the Card Game in League of Legends

Author:Kristen Update:May 07,2025

If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, you'll be excited to know that a new minigame, Demon's Hand, has been introduced in the client and will be available until the end of April. If you've played *Balatro*, you're already familiar with the card game mechanics you'll find in Demon's Hand.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into Demon's Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button to access the game type menu and select Demon’s Hand. This will launch the story introduction and lead you straight into your first round of the card game.

Your hand is displayed in the bottom row of cards on your screen. In the bottom right corner, you'll see your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Above that is your Sigil box, which can hold up to six active Sigils, though you start with none. Remember, your health does not automatically restore after battles. To heal, visit tent locations on the map, which will restore a percentage of your health.

The enemy card is positioned at the top of the screen, with its health shown in the bottom right and its damage in the bottom left of the card. To the left of the enemy card, an attack coin indicates how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks you. On the left edge of the screen, a book icon lists all possible attack hands and their base damage in a standard round.

How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends

To deal damage in Demon's Hand, you'll play poker hands, each with a unique name in the game but following traditional poker rules. The ultimate hand is The Demon’s Hand, equivalent to a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands you can play and their corresponding poker terminology:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

In addition to the base damage, the numerical value of each card contributes to the total damage. If the enemy has a special ability that nullifies a specific suit, cards of that suit will be crossed out and won't add their numerical value to the base damage, though you can still play them.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils are key to enhancing your gameplay. You can purchase them during store phases, marked by coins on the map, which you earn by defeating enemies. Each Sigil offers a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils boost specific hands, like increasing the damage of Dyads, while others might grant you additional turns before the enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.

That's a comprehensive guide on how to play the Demon's Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the upcoming April Fools skins to enjoy in Summoner's Rift.
