Marvel Rivals has made a significant change to its update policy following fan feedback, ensuring a more player-friendly approach to seasonal rank adjustments. Dive deeper into the upcoming changes and exciting developments within the game.
In response to widespread fan backlash, Marvel Rivals has decided to reverse its plans for mid-season player rank resets. The game's official Twitter (X) account shared the latest developments in Dev Talk 11, clarifying their new stance on rank adjustments.
Initially, Dev Talk 10 had announced that players would face a rank reset every 45 days, dropping them down four divisions. This proposal was met with significant criticism from the community, who felt it would discourage players striving to advance through the ranks.
With Dev Talk 11, Marvel Rivals has confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.
Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, Marvel Rivals continues to roll out other exciting updates. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, remains on schedule, expanding the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to adding two new playable characters every season, with each season spanning three months.
The rewards system for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain unchanged. Those who achieve Gold rank or higher after the update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while those at Grandmaster rank and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. Additionally, players reaching Gold rank at the end of the season will earn another free costume, and those at Grandmaster and above will receive more Crests of Honor.
While balance adjustments are expected following the mid-season update, specific details have not yet been disclosed.
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback highlights their commitment to player satisfaction. Just hours after announcing the contentious mid-season rank reset in Dev Talk 10, the team released Dev Talk 11 to address the concerns.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and more information about the game, visit our Marvel Rivals page.
