New Heroes Every Month

Marvel Rivals Now Releasing New Heroes Every Month Starting Season 3

NetEase, committed to keeping Marvel Rivals as "fresh as its launch," has announced a shift to monthly hero releases starting from Season 3. This change, revealed by Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, aims to enhance the game's excitement and engagement.

To accommodate this, the duration of each season will be reduced from three months to two. Guangguang explained, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

This ambitious plan comes in response to community feedback and the desire to keep the game dynamic. Guangguang noted, "Discussions on social media have certainly added some pressure on us to keep the game as exciting as it has been since December." Additionally, the developers are exploring the introduction of new game modes to further enrich the player experience. If implemented, this could lead to up to 12 new heroes being added to the game annually.

Balancing these frequent hero releases presents a challenge, but Guangguang assures that the team is prepared. In a March 14 interview with PC Gamer, he highlighted the use of key metric data across all game modes, including pick rates, win rates, and ability statistics, to inform their balancing efforts.

Season 2 introduces the Hellfire Gala, where Marvel Heroes, invited by the upcoming hero Emma Frost, embark on an adventure to the Mutant haven of Living Island Krakoa. Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to turn things into diamonds, will join the game as a Vanguard.

The Hellfire Gala promises a lavish celebration, with the trailer showcasing new, formal attire skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther. The event draws inspiration from Marvel’s Hellfire Club, an elite social club known for its influence over global events.
