Marvel Rivals Fans Propose Boosting Proficiency Rewards

Summary

  • Fans criticize Marvel Rivals for the difficulty in obtaining nameplates without spending money.
  • A Reddit user proposed converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards to address the issue.
  • Players argue that Proficiency rewards should include nameplates to showcase skill and mastery.

Marvel Rivals has been under scrutiny from its fanbase due to the challenges in acquiring nameplates without spending real money. However, a creative solution proposed by a Reddit user could potentially resolve this issue by altering the Proficiency Points system. These points are crucial for progression in Marvel Rivals, alongside other reward categories.

Launched in December 2024, Marvel Rivals kicked off with its Season 0, offering a limited selection of rewards and skins. The recently released Season 1 update, however, significantly expands the battle pass, featuring ten character skins among other rewards. While skins are a popular way to personalize gameplay, nameplates, sprays, and emotes also play a key role in customization. Yet, it's the distribution of nameplates that has sparked considerable discussion among players.

Reddit user DaPurpleDerpleOf highlighted the disparity in how Lore Banners and nameplates are awarded. Nameplates serve as a significant means for players to differentiate themselves, but they often require a substantial grind through the battle pass or real money purchases. This has led to dissatisfaction among fans, some of whom believe Lore Banners are more visually appealing. In response, DaPurpleDerpleOf suggested converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards.

Marvel Rivals Fans Criticize Game's Reward System

In addition to the battle pass, Marvel Rivals utilizes a Proficiency Points system. Players earn these points by engaging with the game's characters, dealing damage, and defeating opponents. While the Proficiency system offers various rewards, fans argue that nameplates should be included to reflect player skill and mastery. "Proficiency rewards are super lacking. I hope they add more tiers and rewards down the line," one player commented, while another called the inclusion of nameplates a "no-brainer." Rewards like sprays are appreciated as players improve their skills, but nameplates would add another layer of recognition for their proficiency.

Marvel Rivals' Season 1 update has brought numerous changes, including the introduction of Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four, along with new maps and modes. These additions have revitalized the game's dynamics. The rest of The Fantastic Four are slated to join later, with Season 1 expected to run until mid-April.
