Kingdom Come 2 to Launch DRM-Free

Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), the highly anticipated medieval RPG, will launch completely DRM-free. This follows online speculation and misinformation suggesting otherwise.

Developer Clarifies Absence of DRM in KCD2

Recent rumors regarding DRM integration in KCD2 have been officially debunked by Warhorse Studios. During a recent Twitch stream, PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling explicitly stated that the game will not utilize any DRM system, including Denuvo. He attributed the confusion to miscommunication and urged fans to cease inquiries about DRM. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that any information contradicting this statement is inaccurate.

The decision to forgo DRM addresses player concerns about potential performance impacts and negative experiences associated with anti-piracy measures like Denuvo. While Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has previously attributed negative perceptions to misinformation and confirmation bias, Warhorse Studios' decision reflects a commitment to a smooth player experience.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith apprentice, as he confronts the devastating consequences of a tragedy in medieval Bohemia. Players who contributed at least $200 to the KCD2 Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
