Guild Wars 2 Unveils New Homestead Housing System for Janthir Wilds

Guild Wars 2's upcoming Janthir Wilds expansion will introduce Homesteads, a highly anticipated player housing feature. Offering a unique take on player housing, Homesteads provides a fully customizable, instanced space for players to decorate and personalize.

A sneak peek reveals over 300 placeable decorations at launch, with plans to expand this to over 800 before the expansion's conclusion. These decorations will be obtainable through various methods, including crafting, in-game events, and the cash shop.

Homesteads, unlocked early in the Janthir Wilds storyline, will allow for complete freedom in placement, including floating objects and overlapping items. Players can even display their prized mounts, skiffs, and rare armor and weapons. Interestingly, alt characters can also be parked within the Homestead instance, providing a resting buff.

Key features of the Guild Wars 2 Homesteads system include:

• Instanced Housing: No competition for plots or risk of eviction.
• Unrestricted Customization: Full X, Y, and Z axis control for decoration placement.
• Extensive Decoration Options: Hundreds of decorations at launch, with many more planned.

• Resource Gathering: Daily resource nodes (mine, logging camp, farm).
• Cosmetic Display: Armor and weapon racks for showcasing rare equipment.

ArenaNet has boldly stated that Homesteads will be the most player-friendly housing system in an MMORPG, and the initial preview certainly supports this claim. Homesteads will launch alongside Janthir Wilds on August 20th.
