GTA 6 remains on track for a Fall 2025 release. During their Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, Take-Two Interactive shared insights into their current status and upcoming projects for the year.

Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed optimism about the Fall 2025 release, although he acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, noting, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." Despite this, Zelnick affirmed their confidence, stating, "We feel really good about it," in reference to the targeted release window. He remained tight-lipped about GTA 6's development specifics, emphasizing Rockstar's pursuit of perfection and the competitive nature of the industry. "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."

Zelnick highlighted the significant year ahead for Take-Two Interactive, buoyed by a slate of major game releases. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two," he said. Key releases include "Sid Meier’s Civilization VII," which launched in Early Access and is set for an official release on February 11th, "Mafia: The Old Country" slated for Summer, "Grand Theft Auto VI" in the Fall, and "Borderlands 4" before the year's end.

Zelnick expressed high hopes for these titles, stating, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company also projects record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.

The GTA franchise remains Take-Two Interactive's flagship series, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide. GTA Online's holiday update, "Agents of Sabotage," contributed to a stellar quarter, while GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, saw a 10% year-over-year growth.

Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also performed well. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, with significant increases in player engagement, including a 30% rise in Recurrent Consumer Spending, nearly 20% in Daily Active Users, and nearly 10% in Monthly Active Users. Red Dead Redemption 2 continued its success, selling over 70 million units and reaching its highest concurrent player count on Steam with 99,993 players, thanks to ongoing updates like the popular Halloween pass.

GTA 5 Actor Clarifies Stance on His Character

Rumors have circulated that Steven Ogg, the actor behind GTA 5's Trevor, dislikes being associated with the character. However, in an interview on the Inside You podcast, Ogg dispelled these rumors. He explained that he doesn't mind the association but prefers not to be called Trevor, as it's not his name. "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh," Ogg remarked. He praised Trevor as a "great character" and mentioned his ongoing friendship with fellow GTA 5 actors Shawn Fonteno and Ned Luke, noting they recently attended a Comic Con together.

In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg suggested a cameo for Trevor in GTA 6, where the character could be killed off early in the game. However, he clarified that he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and is unaware of any plans for Trevor's return.

GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though no specific date has been announced. Stay updated with the latest news on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
