Fallout 76 Season 20 introduces an exciting new feature allowing players to transform into Ghouls and explore a radiation-filled wasteland like never before. Dive into the details of the Ghoul update and discover the new level 50 character boost that's set to enhance your gaming experience.

Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now

Unleash the Ghoul Within

The latest update for Fallout 76 lets players roam the vast expanse of Appalachia as a Ghoul. Bethesda announced on March 18 that Season 20, dubbed "The Ghoul Within," is now live, bringing a host of ghoul-related features, mechanics, and new cosmetic options to revamp your C.A.M.P.

In this update, players can embark on the "Leap of Faith" questline to undergo Ghoulification. This journey leads you to a new area within the Savage Divide, where you'll encounter unique characters who aid in your transformation. As a Ghoul, you'll gain access to exclusive abilities such as Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-specific Perks, or "Gherks," as Bethesda refers to them.

The Feral ability revolutionizes traditional gameplay by replacing hunger and thirst stats with a dynamic Feral meter. Depending on the meter's level, you'll receive varying boosts. However, if the meter hits 0%, the gameplay intensifies with dramatic changes: "+150% Melee Damage, and lose -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."

On the other hand, the Glow ability allows players to consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and even causing a literal glow. This ability not only increases maximum health and heals damage but also enhances the effects of Ghoul-exclusive Perks.

With 28 Perks to choose from and 2 new legendary perks specifically designed for Ghouls, players will find plenty of customization options. Note that certain Perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance will not be available to Ghouls, as these are irrelevant to their new condition.

A Day In The Life of A Ghoul

Navigating the radiation-infested wasteland as a Ghoul becomes smoother with the new abilities and Gherks at your disposal. However, being a Ghoul can complicate interactions with factions like the Brotherhood of Steel, who may become hostile, potentially locking you out of certain questlines.

Fortunately, a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises to bypass these restrictions, allowing Ghouls to access content that would otherwise be off-limits. If the Ghoul life doesn't suit you, you can revert to being human via the Character Screen. However, this decision is irreversible as you cannot redo the Leap of Faith questline. To transform back into a Ghoul, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms on the Character Screen.

Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes

Whether you're new to Fallout 76 or a seasoned veteran, the Level 50 Character Boost included in Season 20 can kickstart your adventure. Available for 1500 Atoms, this boost equips you with the necessary perks and enhancements to dive straight into multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and story content.

The Season 20 update also includes essential bug fixes, balance adjustments, accessibility improvements, combat tweaks, and weapon damage modifications. Bethesda has also teased the upcoming update "The Big Bloom," scheduled for April 29, which will be part of their ongoing season calendar.

Since its rocky launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has seen numerous updates leading to its current "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
