Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system. This update, launching January 21st, 2025, addresses concerns regarding the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid.

The key change allows players to exchange excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. While the exact exchange rate remains undisclosed, this alteration will facilitate acquisition of high-demand items such as the "A Half Times Two" hairstyle and the "Dais of Darkness" mount, both currently requiring substantial amounts of Clouddark Demimateria 2. These items are also marketable on the in-game market board.

The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, introduced in Patch 7.15, presents a challenging encounter for up to 24 players. The reward system initially provided Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with the latter's quantity dependent on first-time raid completions. The upcoming exchange aims to alleviate the disparity in obtaining the desirable Demimateria 2.

Square Enix has indicated that further adjustments to the Demimateria system and raid rewards are possible based on ongoing player feedback. Patch 7.16 also includes the concluding chapter of the Dawntrail Role Quest series, while significant job balance updates are anticipated in Patch 7.2. The impact of player feedback on future raid content in 2025 remains to be seen.
