Let's delve into the details of this exciting collaboration.

Square Enix and Tencent's Potential FFXIV Mobile Game

Unconfirmed, but Promising

Niko Partners' latest report details 15 games approved by China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA). Among them, a mobile adaptation of Square Enix's renowned MMO, Final Fantasy XIV, developed by Tencent, stands out. Other notable titles on the list include a mobile and PC version of Rainbow Six, two Marvel-based games (Marvel Snap and Marvel Rivals), and a mobile game based on Dynasty Warriors 8.

While rumors of Tencent's involvement in a Final Fantasy XIV mobile game circulated last month, neither company has officially confirmed the project. Niko Partners' analyst Daniel Ahmad, in an August 3rd X (formerly Twitter) post, indicated the mobile game would be a standalone MMORPG, distinct from the PC version. However, he emphasized this information is based on industry speculation, not official announcements.

Given Tencent's significant presence in the mobile gaming market, this collaboration seems a logical step in Square Enix's expansion plans.
