Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter, approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions. The limited playtime doesn't allow for sufficient opportunity to send or read messages, rendering the feature impractical.

This change is notable, considering the significant role messaging has played in fostering player interaction and enhancing enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's specific design.
