Dune: Awakening Developers Explain Sandworm Behavior

Dune: Awakening's sandworms: a force of nature, not a summonable weapon. Unlike the novels, players can't directly summon these behemoths using thumpers.

The developers have integrated sandworms as independent NPCs with programmed patrol routes and behaviors. While you can't strategically summon them, actions like moving through the sand or using a thumper might attract their attention, but there's no guarantee.

Riding sandworms, a hallmark of Freman culture, is currently absent. The developers attribute this omission to considerations from the Dune film franchise.

Future updates may introduce Fremen-centric content, potentially including worm-riding. However, this remains uncertain for the initial launch.

Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
