Beginner's Guide to Building Ultimate Defense

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 02,2025

Diving into *Build Defense* on *Roblox* can feel like stepping into a familiar yet thrilling world. At first glance, it might remind you of *Minecraft* with a twist, but dig a bit deeper, and you'll find its roots are more akin to the original *Fortnite*. In *Build Defense*, you're tasked with constructing a base using blocks while fending off a variety of threats, from monster attacks and tornados to bombs and alien invasions. But don't worry, we've got your back with this Beginner’s Guide to make your journey smoother and more enjoyable.

Build Defense Beginner’s Guide

Below, we've outlined some essential tips we wish we knew when we first started playing. Implementing these strategies will not only boost your fun factor but also accelerate your progress.

The object of the game is to survive…

When you're thrown into your world and onto your plot of land, it's easy to think the goal is to keep your plot safe. But that's not quite right. **The true objective is to survive—or, more simply, not to die.** The game will hurl all sorts of dangers at you, and your mission is to outlast them. Ideally, you'll do this at your plot by constructing a solid defense, but if you need to, you can also just roam the world until the threat passes (we've done it, and it's quite effective). **Every time you survive, you earn a "Win" and some in-game currency.** These Wins are the key to progressing in the game. So, keep an eye on the screen messages, and do your best to stay alive. Speaking of which…

… dying is completely normal

**Don't fret if you die.** It's a common occurrence, and the consequences are minimal. You'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current wave, but none of these setbacks are game-ending. **You can repurchase your weapons and items**, and your structures remain intact against monster and disaster damage. Another wave of attacks comes every two minutes, giving you plenty of chances to redeem yourself. In essence, **you're only losing a bit of time**, which isn't a big deal at all.

Build high, not low

Initially, we thought surrounding our plot with a wall would suffice, but it didn't hold up well. The problem was the need for an entry and exit point, which monsters exploited. A more effective strategy is to **build a set of stairs that reach high into the sky and create a platform at the top**. When night falls, simply ascend and wait it out. Monsters attempting to climb will likely fall, and those who reach the top can be met with a welcoming committee of **turrets**. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.

Don’t just build, explore!

There's much more to do on the island than just managing your plot. You can visit other players, sell your ores, and **even take on quests**. Most quests require a certain number of Wins to unlock, but some, like the **Gingerbread’s House quest**, are available from the start. Completing these quests is beneficial as they can unlock new and exciting building parts.

The “Shop” isn’t just for premium items

As you advance in the game, don't forget to check out the Shop. **Most items there can be purchased with in-game currency.** You'll need to accumulate some Wins first, so play a bit before diving into the shop. Also, make sure to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and like, favorite, and follow the game to receive a free gift.

When you’re ready, move to the next area

Once you've earned enough Wins (190), you can transition to the next area and start the cycle anew. You'll encounter new disasters, quests, and building opportunities.

**That's the gist of it. Enjoy surviving and building in *Build Defense*. Don't forget to check out our *Build Defense* codes for some cool in-game freebies.**
