007: First Light was officially revealed during the June 2025 PlayStation State of Play, with a release window set for 2026. It is currently being developed by IO Interactive, the acclaimed studio behind the Hitman series and the upcoming adventure shooter Mindseye.

The game delivers a third-person action-adventure experience centered on a fresh reimagining of James Bond’s origins. Players will embark on dynamic missions across breathtaking global locations, pilot iconic vehicles, and tackle objectives using a wide range of tactical and interactive gameplay mechanics.

Launching on PlayStation 5, 007: First Light will also leverage the PlayStation 5 Pro’s enhanced hardware, featuring improved performance through PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.

Focused On The Bond Origin Story

007: First Light will be a "wholly original Bond origin story," putting players in control of a young James Bond as he begins his journey. This is a reimagined take on the world’s most famous spy, highlighting his formative years before he evolved into the globally recognized, suave agent.

This is Bond as you’ve never seen him—his youngest portrayal yet in the franchise. At just 26, Bond is raw, impulsive, and still learning to navigate the murky world of espionage. He’s not yet the martini-sipping, Aston Martin-driving legend, but a man discovering when to fight, when to deceive, and when to vanish into the shadows.

Bond starts as a Royal Navy air crewman. After a bold act of bravery, he’s recruited into MI6’s most grueling training program—the crucible that forges him into the agent the world knows and fears. Developed in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, the narrative stands independently, offering a new perspective on the Bond legacy.

The game takes players on a globe-trotting adventure through snow-capped mountains, tropical shorelines, and everything in between. You’ll encounter classic characters like M, Q, and Moneypenny, alongside new allies such as Greenway, Bond’s mentor.
