Elden Ring DLC Accessibility Enhanced with Latest Update

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC receives a balancing update (1.12.2) to ease difficulty. While critically acclaimed, the DLC's challenging nature prompted player feedback, including review bombing on Steam. This update directly addresses concerns about difficulty, particularly in the early and late stages.

The update significantly boosts attack power and damage reduction from Shadow Realm Blessings (like Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes) during the first half of their enhancement levels. The second half of the enhancements now offer a more gradual increase, while the final enhancement level also receives a slight buff. This change should make the initial encounters and final boss battles more manageable.

Bandai Namco even issued a reminder encouraging players to utilize Scadutree Fragments, a new collectible item that enhances damage output and defense when used at Sites of Grace. These fragments are crucial for navigating the DLC's challenges, and the update further amplifies their effectiveness.

The patch also addresses a PC-specific bug where ray tracing automatically activates upon loading save data from older game versions. Players experiencing framerate issues are advised to manually disable ray tracing in the graphics settings. Further updates are planned to address remaining bugs and implement additional balance tweaks.

Elden Ring Update 1.12.2 Patch Notes Summary:

  • Shadow Realm Blessing Adjustments: Increased attack and damage negation, particularly in the early enhancement levels. The final enhancement level also received a minor boost.
  • Ray Tracing Bug Fix (PC): Resolved the automatic activation of ray tracing when loading older saves. Players should manually check and disable ray tracing if necessary.
  • Future Updates Planned: Additional balance adjustments and bug fixes are forthcoming.
