Virtua Fighter's Steam Debut

For the first time, SEGA brings the acclaimed Virtua Fighter franchise to Steam with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. This highly anticipated remaster builds upon the foundation of the original Virtua Fighter 5, an 18-year-old classic, representing the fifth major iteration of the game. While a precise release date remains unannounced, SEGA promises a winter launch.

Despite numerous previous releases, SEGA proudly presents Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O as the definitive remaster. Key features include rollback netcode for smooth online battles, stunning 4K visuals with updated high-resolution textures, and a boosted 60fps framerate for unparalleled fluidity.

Returning favorites like Rank Match, Arcade, Training, and Versus modes are joined by exciting additions: custom online tournaments and leagues (supporting up to 16 players), and a Spectator Mode for observing skilled players and learning new techniques.

Initially Mistaken for Virtua Fighter 6

Earlier this month, an interview with VGC fueled speculation about a Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. SEGA's global head of transmedia, Justin Scarpone, hinted at several legacy titles in development, including another Virtua Fighter entry. However, the November 22nd Steam listing for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O revealed the surprise remaster, featuring upgraded graphics, new game modes, and crucial rollback netcode.

A Classic Fighting Game Returns

Originally launched on SEGA Lindbergh arcade systems in July 2006, Virtua Fighter 5 later made its way to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007. The story follows the Fifth World Fighting Tournament, where J6, or Judgement 6, invites the world's top fighters. While the original featured 17 characters, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O boasts a roster of 19 playable fighters.
