Application Description:

Control your device with ease using switches or your front camera. Whether you're using switches to navigate, select items, scroll, or enter text, or utilizing the front camera for a hands-free experience, Switch Access on Android devices offers a versatile solution for interacting with your phone or tablet.

Switch Access is particularly beneficial if you're unable to interact directly with your device's touchscreen. Here's how you can get started:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility > Switch Access.

Set Up a Switch

Switch Access scans your screen, highlighting items until you select one. You have several types of switches to choose from:

Physical switches:

  • USB or Bluetooth devices like buttons or keyboards.
  • On-device options like volume buttons.

Camera switches:

  • Use facial gestures such as opening your mouth, smiling, raising your eyebrows, or looking left, right, or up.

Scan Your Device

Once your switch is set up, you can interact with your screen in various ways:

  • Linear scanning: Move through items one at a time.
  • Row-column scanning: Scan rows first, then move through items within the selected row.
  • Point scanning: Use moving lines to pinpoint a specific horizontal and vertical location, then press "Select".
  • Group selection: Assign switches to color groups. Press the switch that matches the color around the item you want to select, narrowing down until you reach your choice.

Use the Menus

When an element is selected, a menu appears with options like select, scroll, copy, paste, and more. Additionally, a top menu helps you navigate your device, allowing you to access notifications, return to the home screen, adjust volume, and more.

Navigate with Camera Switches

Utilize your phone's front camera for hands-free navigation. Browse and select apps using facial gestures. You can customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your preferences.

Record Shortcuts

Enhance efficiency by recording touch gestures like pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, and double tapping. Assign these to a switch or access them from a menu, enabling you to perform frequent or complex actions with ease. For example, record a gesture that swipes left twice to turn two pages of an ebook.
