Audio Visual Lessons for Evangelism and Basic Bible Teaching

These lessons are based on the Sunday School Lessons published by the AIC Sunday School Committee, Juba, Southern Sudan, and have been adapted for general use by Global Recordings Network Australia, with the permission of the Africa Inland Church, Sudan. They are designed to be used in conjunction with the audio visual picture books available from Global Recordings Network.

Background and Purpose

The lessons were developed in response to requests from young people tasked with teaching in Sunday School. The accompanying pictures serve as crucial visual aids to enhance the learning experience.

App Features:

• Comprehensive Content: Contains 226 Bible lessons spread across 9 books.
• Program Integration: Based on the Good News and Look, Listen, and Live audio visual programs by Global Recordings Network, accessible via the 5fish app.
• Search Functionality: Includes a title search feature for easy navigation.
• Teacher Support: Provides detailed teacher instructions for each lesson.
• Multimedia Support: Allows users to play English audio recordings and display pictures for each lesson story.
• Offline Capability: Can be used offline, with the exception of audio playback.

Usage and Structure

This app focuses solely on the lesson segment of the Sunday School, with each lesson designed to last approximately twenty minutes. The remaining time, which includes singing, prayer, Bible reading, quizzes, and other activities, is left for teachers to plan. It is recommended that each lesson concludes with a short prayer and song that reinforce the week's teaching. The lessons are tailored for children aged 7 to 12 years.

Initially, teachers manually transcribed each lesson into an exercise book on a weekly basis, keeping them concise. While some lessons have been expanded, the core idea remains to provide a brief yet comprehensive outline for teachers to elaborate upon during their preparation.

Teaching Approach

Each lesson begins with an aim that guides the teaching focus. Given the young audience, the lessons do not attempt to cover the entirety of God's truth in one go. Instead, teachers are encouraged to focus on one or two key truths per lesson, allowing children to gradually build their understanding of God.

The lessons are intended as a guide for teachers, not a script to be read verbatim. They should serve as a helpful tool, akin to a walking stick, rather than a crutch that the teacher relies on entirely.
