A recent online video cleverly transforms Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into Super Mario Galaxy. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, is the latest in the popular Zelda series. Often compared to other Nintendo titles like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and various Super Mario games, its gameplay has now been creatively juxtaposed with a specific Mario title.

Reddit user Ultrababouin's video, "Super Zelda Galaxy," masterfully blends footage from Tears of the Kingdom to evoke the feel of the beloved 2007 Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy. The edit, which includes a recreation of Super Mario Galaxy's iconic opening sequence, has sparked nostalgia among many viewers.

A Zelda Meets Mario Mashup

Ultrababouin shared their month-long project on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, a community dedicated to Tears of the Kingdom creations. The video was submitted to the subreddit's June design contest. This isn't Ultrababouin's first rodeo; previous creations, including a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero (from Breath of the Wild), earned them "Engineer of the Month" honors in December and February.

While the Master Cycle Zero is absent from Tears of the Kingdom, the game's innovative build system allows for incredible player-created vehicles. This system's capabilities have been showcased spectacularly, with one Hyrule Engineering member, ryt1314059, even constructing a functional aircraft carrier capable of launching a working bomber!

Looking ahead, the next Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, launches September 26th. A significant departure, this installment will feature Princess Zelda as the protagonist, a change from the usual Link-centric narrative.
