As a long-time PC gamer, I've often relied on Steam sales to keep my game library fresh. However, the allure of Xbox Game Pass never quite grabbed me—until now. Yesterday's surprise drop of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass was a game-changer. Despite being a poorly kept secret, the reveal was still thrilling. And the excitement doesn't stop there; tomorrow, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the visually stunning debut from Sandfall Interactive, inspired by JRPG classics, joins the lineup. As a die-hard RPG enthusiast, Microsoft, you've finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released across PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. Like many, I spent the day downloading it and the night immersed in its enchanting music. The remaster boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and upgraded visual effects. While over five new voice actors were added, Virtuos wisely preserved the original's quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including the original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for an additional $10.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the eagerly anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, is set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S. It currently holds a stellar 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN awarding it a 9/10, lauding its story design as "a true modern throwback." The game's stylish UI echoes the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is among the most innovative I've seen. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.
Despite Expedition 33 being positioned as the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a slight shadow over the indie game's debut. From my perspective, though, we're getting two incredible experiences, and Game Pass makes it easier on the wallet. Instead of shelling out $100 for both games, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only question is when I'll see the sun again.
Recent additions to Game Pass for 2025 include Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, joining perennial favorites like GTA V and the complete Call of Duty series. Truly, there's something for everyone.
Game Pass Ultimate is available for $19.99/month, offering access to the entire Game Pass library across consoles, PCs, and cloud gaming. The PC-only version is priced at $9.99/month. The Standard and Core subscription tiers cost $14.99/month and $9.99/month, respectively, but do not include day-one releases. The most recent price increase occurred in July 2024, and with such impressive game launches, further hikes seem likely this year.
While there are no current Game Pass deals, a three-month subscription could protect you from future price increases. For deals on other platforms, check out our roundup of PS5, PC, and Switch offers. And don't miss out—U.S. preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 go live tonight.
