Vampire Survivors (quite rightly in my view) has established itself as a staple for bullet heaven fans on nearly every platform. Consequently, it is no surprise that its wildcard spinoff, Vampire Crawlers, is generating such high anticipation. A new gameplay trailer now provides insight into what to expect upon release.

Scheduled for a 2026 launch, Vampire Crawlers shifts the action from the original's isometric bullet heaven perspective to first-person turn-based dungeon crawling. Players will construct decks featuring classic Vampire Survivors weapons while exploring castles, dungeons, and crumbling ruins in their quest to eliminate evil.

The latest gameplay trailer offers our best look yet at how these mechanics harmonize alongside a gorgeously retro aesthetic. Whether navigating classic catacombs or mysterious mechanical labyrinths, there is ample content to discover, including additional characters, weapons, and abilities.

Raising the stakes

Predictably from developer Poncle, Vampire Crawlers is packed with irreverent innovation. It incorporates elements like Balatro's combo-building action and the overwhelming spells and weaponry of Vampire Survivors. I believe it will serve as an excellent addition to the rotation for dedicated fans.

While familiar assets from the original game are present, this title appears more than a simple cash grab. It features fresh artwork alongside new additions that complement recognizable cast members, weapons, and items.

If only they would turn it into a Metroidvania... Ah well, one can dream.
