How to Unlock Caldarus Events Gift Preferences ### How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in Fields of Mistria, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot.

Upon completing the offering, a captivating cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed alongside the Scroll. As the farmer's health dwindles, Caldarus heroically appears, transforming into his human form. He leaves the player with the Dragon’s Breath spell and retreats to the Deep Woods. In this new form, you can engage with Caldarus, giving him gifts and conversing daily, just as you would with other dateable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be exclusively found at his temple in the Deep Woods. To permanently unlock this area on your map, you must use the Dragon’s Breath spell.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts with a heart level of six, which is currently the cap. This means there are no additional heart events available for him in Fields of Mistria yet, but future updates promise more romantic encounters.

Currently, there are only a few cutscenes featuring the dragon. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, serving as an introduction to Mistria’s magic and gameplay mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves the farmer and reveals his human form before retreating to recover in the Deep Woods. These scenes progress naturally with the story.

Following the update, you can also arrange a real date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in Fields of Mistria, offering a romantic opportunity to take any NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to enjoy the stars. Since Caldarus starts at six hearts, you're automatically eligible to go with him. To attend the festival with Caldarus, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up afterward to start the event. This triggers a special cutscene of your date. Spoilers ahead!

During the date at the Summit, Caldarus expresses gratitude for the invitation and discusses the stars and the ancient Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. You're presented with dialogue choices exploring the concept of soul connections and the nature of relationships. Caldarus shares insights on the necessity of villains in stories, hinting at deeper narratives. He speculates about past-life connections before feeling fatigued, inviting you to continue watching the stars from his temple.
