Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers speed, traversing large battlefields to assist officers often necessitates faster travel.

This is where your mount comes in, summonable at any time in the overworld or during battles. Engage in combat from horseback for swift hit-and-run tactics. Below, learn how to acquire your first mount, level it up, and switch between mounts.

How To Unlock Your First Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

A free mount awaits in Chapter 1. After completing "Test Of Zheng Fei," the second major battle, locate a merchant on your route to the Battle Of Guangzong. He'll be northeast of Wan Castle, before the camp, next to his horse. Speak to him to receive your mount, which will be automatically equipped.

Summon your mount by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).

How To Increase Your Mount's Level in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Your equipped mount gains XP from completed missions and main story battles (excluding skirmishes). XP earned depends on battle duration and your mount usage, including charging into enemies. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each mount. Missions are indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon.

How To Change Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Your initial mount is automatically equipped, but others become available. Access the Battle Preparation menu; the mount selection is the last option on the left. Each mount possesses unique advantages; some are inherently faster. Acquire new mounts by maximizing regional peace; a new mount will be at a nearby waypoint as a reward.
