Cursed Objects (also known as "Cursed Possessions") are randomly generated items in Phasmophobia, appearing on various maps depending on game mode and settings. Activation requires locating and interacting with them within the location.

Unlike standard in-van equipment, Cursed Objects provide game-altering effects, each with a drawback. Benefits like instantly pinpointing the ghost's favorite room or boosting your team's capabilities are offset by negative consequences. These can include rapid sanity loss, temporary blindness, or unexpected "cursed" hunt encounters. Strategic use is crucial; sometimes, avoiding them is the wiser choice. Note that Cursed Objects won't spawn at all difficulty levels or in Challenge Mode.

Phasmophobia currently features seven Cursed Objects, each with unique abilities and debilitating side effects. A common effect is a substantial sanity reduction for the user. Proximity to the user when activating a Cursed Object increases the likelihood of a "cursed hunt."

Cursed hunts are identical to regular hunts but ignore sanity levels and can occur immediately after a previous hunt. Their extended duration (20 seconds longer) makes escape more challenging, especially at higher difficulty levels.

The following table details each Cursed Object's function:

Cursed ObjectAbility
Tarot CardsTen randomly generated cards offering buffs, debuffs, or increased ghost activity. The "Death" card, for example, can trigger a Cursed Hunt.
Ouija BoardAllows direct communication with the ghost. Questions like "Hide and Seek" can trigger Cursed Hunts, as can shattering the board.
Haunted MirrorReveals the ghost's favorite room. Shattering the mirror triggers a Cursed Hunt.
Music BoxReveals the ghost's location via a special event. Prolonged use triggers a Cursed Hunt.

The Haunted Mirror is the safest and most beneficial Cursed Object. It reveals the ghost's location, significantly aiding investigation efficiency. However, prolonged use lowers sanity and shattering it initiates a Cursed Hunt.
