Ubisoft unveils Rainbow Six Siege 2: Enhanced visuals in the spotlight

A purported leak from an insider known as fraxiswinning suggests Ubisoft will unveil Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitational 2025, scheduled for February 14-16 at the MGM Music Hall.

This alleged project, codenamed Siege X, reportedly utilizes a revamped engine boasting enhanced visuals, including overhauled textures and models. Furthermore, the source claims past temporary events from the original game may not return, with Ubisoft seemingly focusing on entirely new events. A projected release date is slated for mid-2025, coinciding with the second season of the game's tenth year of support.

This contradicts previous statements by Rainbow Six Siege creative director Alexander Karpazis, who previously downplayed the need for a full sequel, citing the ongoing development of the current iteration. However, this leak indicates a potential shift in Ubisoft's strategy.

It's crucial to approach such rumors with a healthy dose of skepticism. Until an official announcement from Ubisoft, all information remains speculative.

Meanwhile, the Rainbow Six Siege World Championship, Six Invitational 2025, is rapidly approaching. Twenty teams will compete in Boston for a $3,000,000 prize pool and the coveted championship title. Oxygen Esports, victors of the North American Last Chance Qualifier, secured the final qualifying spot.

The twenty-team competition presents a unique structure. While Ubisoft may retain the previous year's format—four round-robin groups of five teams, followed by a double-elimination playoff—alternative formats remain a possibility. The likely playoff structure will see the top team receive a first-round bye, the fourth-place team entering the lower bracket, and the remaining teams starting in the upper bracket. The last-place team in each group will be eliminated.
